Nascar took it to the streets of New York City today for its 25th annual Champion's Week. The top 10 drivers in the Nascar Nextel (please say the Nextel) series drove a victory lap in Times Square. Ironically, Nascar halted traffic...it was a disaster for some.

Hip-Hop Disc Jockey, Star aka Troi Torain is making his return to NYC radio after being fired for making threats to a rival DJ's 4-yr old daughter. Star, will co-host the "Star & Buc-Wild Show" with his half-brother/co-host, Buc Wild. The two edgy jockeys will be back in January with a new morning show on 87.7 FM.
The new show will run weekdays from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. beginning Jan. 12, when Pulse 87 will go to a Top 40 format. The station currently airs Russian ethnic programming.

NY Red Bulls coach and sporting director, Bruce Arena, resigned from his post today after his team was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, making it the second time in as many years.
"Marc de Grandpre [Red Bulls Manager] and I discussed the direction of the team and decided mutually that this was the best move for Red Bull New York," Arena said in a statement. "I wish the organization the best of luck going forward."
(coincidentally the coach of the Los Angeles Galaxy, Frank Yallop, quit his day job too..)

Along with three others (John Hope Franklin, Jhumpa Lahiri, and Tom Stoppard), Martin Scorsese has been named a Library Lion by the New York Public Library.
"Library Lions honorees were chosen for their exceptional contributions to scholarship, literature, science, history and the visual and performing arts," library president Paul LeClerc said.

The Boston Red Sox completed a 4-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies, to win their 2nd World Series title in 4 years. Unfortunately, they're looking more like an empire and our beloved Yanks are looking like a wimpire :(

A Museum dedicated to WoodStock will go on as planned, even though the federal government pulled $1 million in funding for the memorial.
The museum is being built on top of the hill near where the stage was located. The Woodstock Musuem is being billed as The Museum at Bethel Woods, and is due to open next year in Bethel, New York.

Don't count on that extra hour of sleep just yet, Day-light savings time now ends a week later than it used to. Instead of the last Sunday in October, the switch happens on the first Sunday of November.
On the flip side, this allows us an extra hour of sun-light on Halloween for all you trick-or-treaters.
