Residents in Queens can count the days they've been without electricity with both hands. The power outage caused by melted cables, was thought to have affected 2,400 people...but now Con Ed is estimating that the REAL number of affected people is more than 10 times higher than expected, and could be 100,000! While affected residents and business' had to wait it out the first few days, some power is now being restored, and Red Cross is providing free fruit, ice and water.

Even worse than not having power, is not knowing when the problem will be fixed. "It'll be done when it's done," Mayor Bloomberg told reporters. Being fair, the weather hasn't been on our side either, but it's not like we were born yesterday either, this is a recurring problem. The large scale of affected people qualifies this as a federal disaster, but NO! all they can tell us is to ride it out. The government is not going to make any reparations to those affected, and some say Con Edison should be accountable, but come on, they never take blame for these occurences, it's always the weathers fault...well June 21st-September 21st is called "Summer" for a reason!

With the New York City marathon a few months away, Wolfgang Schwerk is wasting no time preparing. Schwerk, from Germany set a new world record by running 3,100 miles around Queens in a record 41 days, 8 hours, 16 minutes and 29 seconds, beating his previous record by 29 hours, 7 minutes, 34 seconds set in 2002. Doesn't this just make you feel like you've been wasting your summer? While we've been at the beach, and/or shopping, Schwerk's been sleeping 3 hours a day, and running continually from 5 a.m. to midnight, with no days off, which is the equivalent to 3 marathons a day!

In an act of patriotism that's sure to touch everyone, four teenagers from Ohio, are walking 650-miles from Ohio to New York in order to raise $1 million for memorials for victims of 9/11. The teens plan on walking 20-30 mile hikes each day, while stopping along planned destinations, and resting on sundays. They raised $5,000 by the time they set off on the journey, and plan to stop in Pennsylvania along the way to donate 20 percent of what they've made at the time, for victims of Flight 93.

Former New York Congressman, Thomas Manton has died, he was 73.

Only in New York! A 3,000 pound replica Tomahawk cruise missile fell off a truck on I-95, near the Bronx, after being rear-ended by another motorist. The crash broke the fiberglass casing, displaying the missile to the public, and causing police to take action, not knowing that the missile was a replica and did not have a warhead. Everything worked out fine, and the missile was taken to a military base.
