2006 Rockerfeller Center Christmas Tree Chosen

This is the 88-foot Norway Spruce that will adorn Rockerfeller Center this Christmas season. The 80-100 year old tree comes from a home in Ridgefield Connecticut. It is scheduled to be cut down today to allow workers to begin putting it up at Rockerfeller Center tomorrow. The tree will remain lit through Jan. 6, 2007.

This is the actual Swarovski crystal star that will sit on top of the RockerFeller Center Christmas tree. The crystal star measures 9.5 feet tall and weighs about 550 pounds.
